“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy.”
I am thankful to be learning how sweet it is to be in Christ! And how hard it would be to know nothing else but living unto yourself, not ever tasting the sweet promises God gives to His people!
I am continually reminded how He cares for His people, as a Shepherd cares for His sheep: “I am the good shepherd. I know My own and My own know me, just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.” (John 10:14-15) He tenderly walks with His children through the ups and downs of life, providing grace and a stronghold to the needy.
He offers rest for the weary, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28) Exhaustion can pile up when busyness comes with the tasks of this life, but there is peace to be found, when I place my trust in the God who gives rest.
He gives the water of life without price: “And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price.” (Revelation 22:17) We can quench our thirst with the sweet water of abundant joy in life.
Jesus is the door that we walk through to find rest. In the middle of the green pastures we find the water of life flowing down to where our Good Shepherd stands watch. We have no need to fear, for He is the Lion of Judah. His word always reminds me how blessed are we as God’s children: those who can take comfort in placing our trust in the Hands that were wounded for us.
“If we are discouraged or tired or hurt today one long drink from the well of Him who lives and sees will give us new life, new courage, new patience, to go on running the race set before us even to the end.” Amy Carmichael
